Understand what contributes to profitability
High sales volume alone does not explain what an activity earns. Revenue needs to be read alongside purchases, commissions and logistics costs, with consistent treatment of VAT and currencies.
Orders and shipments now provide context for margin analysis in CIAMA. We also make calculation limits visible so decisions can rely on understandable data.
What changes in daily work
- Read profitability beyond revenue alone.
- Identify missing inputs that block a line’s calculation.
- Reuse available order-line components through the API.
Features in detail
Reporting
Connect margin to the components of a sale
Monitoring brings together sales amounts, VAT and available purchase, commission and shipping costs. The overview provides margin indicators and views by brand or category.
Make calculation limits visible
Indicators distinguish actual and estimated margin according to the available inputs. A dedicated view identifies shipped lines whose calculation is blocked and supports filtering by error reason. Missing information should not be interpreted as zero cost.
API: inspect order-line data
GET /api/oms/order-lines exposes lines and their available financial components: tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive amounts, VAT, commissions, shipping, purchases and margin. Fields can be absent when information is unavailable.
The marginCalc, marginCalcBlockedErrorMode and marginCalcBlockedError indicators provide context for the result. Preserve these states when reusing the values rather than displaying artificial precision. Prepare this integration with the CIAMA API documentation.
Explain a low margin
During a commercial review, management examines a product group and asks why its margin is low. The team returns to the relevant lines to inspect available fees. If a calculation is blocked, it investigates the missing input before drawing a profitability conclusion.
An estimate remains a planning indicator, distinct from a confirmed amount. This operational view does not replace financial closing.
This edition looks back at CIAMA’s evolution. The month is an editorial milestone in the product story, not a production deployment date.
